2nd Team vs Cranborne CC, Dorset, 1st XI

Big Six from Enam, this time with the ball!

Cranborne – good bunch of lads and always a pleasure to play, unfortunately hit by illness and traffic left them with 9 to start the game. Ferndown won the toss and elected to bowl. Despite some excellent opening bowling from Henry and Mo, Cranborne got off to a flyer with their openers racing to 65 in good time. 

A bowling change brough Faiz and Enam into the attack and with some fast straight bowling backed up with some (mostly) sharp catching, made the initial breakthrough and continued to take regular wickets to bring the innings to a quick close before Cranborne’s 10th could arrive.  

Enam returning career best figures of 5.3-2-12-6 and a first 5fer since dismantling Hayling Island in 2022. Deano also chipped in with one on his welcome return to league cricket.  

In reply, Jonah was promoted to the top of the order and looked at home for a swift 15 off 7 balls before chasing a wide one. Deano came out at 3 joining Bait in a 73-run 2nd wicket stand that put the game to bed.  

A comfortable win in the end of the twos to get their campaign up and running following last week’s wash out and they will go again against a Verwood 2s side who themselves put in a strong performance with a 74-run victory over last week’s opponents Fawley.
