T20 vs Sway CC, 1st XI

Off the back of a scorching day on Saturday, we had the challenge of facing Sway in our third T20 game of the season. Alex, following in our Saturday skipper Eric’s footsteps, lost the toss and we were put into the field.

We hit the ground running with a brilliant powerplay bowling display, leaving Sway 39/2 after six overs. Freddie, Henry and Daryl all picked up two wickets apiece, but the standout was Henry with figures of 2-17 from his four overs 👏. Some good middle-order batting from Sway shifted the momentum back their way, eventually taking them to 143/8 from their 20 overs, leaving us with a competitive chase.

The explosive pairing of Tom Munnings and Regan Norman opened the batting, however the partnership lasted just one over, with Regan getting a ‘low-ey’. But as we all know, Dolmans is a road, so take from that what you will 😉. The remainder of the powerplay saw us lose three more wickets, leaving us with an uphill climb.

Coach AC (Ashley Collison) came in at No.7 and put his own advice into practice, making a valiant effort to drag us over the line. He was eventually caught for 30 from 27 balls after keeping our hopes alive.

A good effort from some very tired bodies out there, and another strong bowling and fielding display to take into our Saturday games. Next up is another tough opponent away at Bashley, which is nearly as good a deck as Dolmans…
